Be: Open
Yesterday my friend and fellow blogger, Vicky, published an interview with me on her website Story Hill Lane. It was really fun to collaborate on a project with a close friend. What you don't know is that it took about 5 months to complete.
Vicky pitched the idea to me in September. I loved it and said yes. She sent me a list of interview questions and recruited our photographer friend Chris Cryer to help us out; the photos were taken September 27. Then life happened, and I asked if we could put the project on hold. Well, it was more than life happening, though that was part of it. Honestly, I got a little scared of the exposure that comes along with a project of this nature: people would be invited to peek into my home and into my life, read my interview answers, and then possibly misunderstand me or criticize me. Vicky was gracious, as always, and said we didn't ever have to complete the project if I didn't want to.
That was many months ago. Earlier this week, I was cleaning out my inbox when I came across Vicky's interview questions, dated September 20. I felt a surge of renewed excitement, so I reached out to see if she was still interested in completing the project. She said a resounding, "Yes!" I told her I would have the interview answers written by Wednesday. Badda bing, badda boom, we crossed our t's and dotted our i's, and shared the final product on Thursday.
I hope you enjoy the piece. It feels like a fitting way to celebrate Simply Silicon Valley's fast approaching one year birthday (March 16). Thank you for all of your support in this website endeavor, and thank you, Vicky, for your patience and encouragement.
Bisous, Taylor
