Go: Sue's Gallery Café

I like to drink my café au lait in the comfort of my home. On an ideal day, I've set the coffee maker the night before to automatically brew at 6 am. When I wake up, I inhale deeply and follow the aroma to the kitchen, where I fill my mug 1/3 full with whole milk, warm it in the microwave, and top it off with hot, strong coffee. This is my daily routine, and I love it; it's a delightful way to start the day. 

I'm not a fan of Starbucks and most chain coffee shops, they just aren't my thing. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere, and I prefer my coffee homemade. That's why Sue's Gallery Café in Saratoga Village was open nearly a year before I finally gave it a try. I took my maiden voyage last week, and I've already scheduled two rendezvous there this week alone—I'm hooked!

Everything about Sue's is beautiful, simple, and delicious. I ordered a cappuccino and a broiche donut. When they called my name a few minutes later, I was presented with a small, rectangular, wooden tray with a handmade ceramic mug and this gorgeous, fluffy ball of bread dusted in sugar. It truly was art; I'm mad at myself for neglecting to get a photograph. The broiche donut was perfectly light and the ideal complement to the cappuccino. When I went inside to use the ladies' room before leaving, I was excited to discover a quiet, upstairs sitting area with vista windows.

This morning I popped by to snap a photo for this article, only to discover they are closed on Mondays. Sue's is open every other day of the week, 8 am - 8 pm. And it appears they are expanding into the business space next door. I can't wait to see what they have up their sleeve.
